How can we find space when time is marked in units of six and we’re juggling deadlines, warned lists and briefs? When there’s no let up from demanding clients who are leaning on us more than ever? When it feels like there simply isn’t enough time to fit it all in, let alone family life or interests outside work? I know what it’s like to be a lawyer running on empty, and I know there’s a better way to live and work.
My Story
Before I became a coach and meditation teacher, I spent years as a solicitor and partner for a large firm. I loved my work, but I was constantly under pressure. The long hours and relentless expectations took their toll, and eventually, my body made me stop.
Headaches, insomnia, even problems with my vision were all caused by stress. When my doctor told me that, I honestly didn’t believe it. Like so many of us in law, I thought I just needed to “push through.” Working and playing hard were part of the culture.
But that approach stopped working.
Meditation changed everything for me. Not in a mystical way but in a practical, evidence-based, brain-training way. It helped me rebuild from the inside out. I learned how to manage my mind, manage my stress, and find clarity and focus again.
Now, through transformational coaching and meditation, I help other lawyers do the same because no one should have to burn out to realise they need to take care of themselves.
